Where do we fly?
Algarve Balloon Flights says most of it: in The Algarve, Southern Portugal. Probably one of the most difficult areas to fly hot air balloons. In the North we have the mountains and forest areas, in the South the Atlantic Ocean. By this we are limited to fly with eastern or western wind directions. So when you make a reservation you can choose the area of your interest, but just the day prior to your flight we can confirm the exact meeting point/departure location. Most flights will be in the western part as the area of Faro is prohibited by Faro Airport.
How often do we fly
The Algarve is a difficult area to fly. So annually we fly only 80-90 days a year (5-10 flights per month...) Despite we schedule daily flights we have to reschedule many flights. So if you are willing to fly a hot air balloon in the Algarve, the more flexible you are the higher chance you will have enoy the beautyfull Algarve from the sky.
What time do we fly?
The best time to fly a hot air balloon in the Algarve is at sunrise. The windspeed is calm and views are fenomonal. In winter season (november till march) flights in the afternoon may be possible, but the flight time might be limited due to gusty wind speeds.
How long do we fly?
Our flights usually take one hour. Please note your whole balloon adventure takes about 4 hours; we will meet you at the launch site and there we prepare the balloon together and give you the safety briefing. Your adventure in the air takes about 1 hour. After the landing we have a toast to celebrate the flight. With our minibus we take you back to the meeting point with a lifetime memory!
Where do we meet?
As we can not control the direction of the balloon, we fly where the wind takes us, we inform you the day ahead of your flight about your flight status, and also where we would like to meet you. Please note you will be on time, as you delay your arrival it could result in cancellation of the flight due to changing weather conditions.
What should you wear?
Ballooning is an outdoor activity. So high heels, flipflops, shorts are not advised. We take off and land in the country side, so hiking boots and long trousers are the best for you. Maybe a cap gives you some more comfort for the heat of the burner... (If you decide to wear high heels/flipflops, please note during start and landing you have to take them off).
What if I want to cancel the flight?
Free cancellation is possible till 7 days ahead of your flight, please read also our terms and conditions.
What if the weather conditions do'n permit a flight?
With rain, low ceiling, high windspeeds and pour visibility we will cancel your flight. For two reasons: your flight must be safe, and your flight must be stunning! In case we cancel your flight you can either reschedule or you will receive a full refund, please read also our terms and conditions.
Are you insured?
Yes! If you fly a balloon off course we have you insured, we have to by law, but we also want it for you to give you the best feeling. Each balloon has it own insurance and similar conditions with a minimum of 250.000 SDR per passenger.
What do I bring?
Whatever you want, but please note, balloons have their weigth limitations. So when you make a reservation you have to inform us about your body weight, If you take bags exceeding 5 kg your pilot might tell you to leave them on the ground. What you really need to bring, yourself! Enjoy the moment and off course take some pictures.
Ballooning is an outdoor activity. A good physical condition is required. Can you jump from a small step, walk 500 meters than you are in a suitable condition for a balloonflight. Unfortunately children <1,3 meter and disabled people are unable to join a balloonflight.
